Scottish Dental Show is a real record-breaker

Connect’s flagship event, the Scottish Dental Show, smashed all previous records and was voted a massive success by those who attended.

The two-day event at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow on 27 and 28 April saw our biggest-ever attendance, with people coming from far and wide to meet fellow professionals and find out about the sector’s latest developments.

With 130+ exhibitors, up to 11 hours of CPD, and more than 40 talks and workshops from professionals covering a multitude of topics, the 2,600 pre-registered delegates had plenty to see and do at the Show. So much in fact, that a third of visitors from Friday returned on Saturday.

A successful first day was topped off with our ever-popular Scottish Dental Awards 2018, hosted by DJ Des Clarke at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel.

More than 440 people attended the event and 16 awards were presented. The prestigious Scottish Dental Lifetime Achievement Award went to Dr Mike Arthur, a dentist from Wishaw. Dentist of the Year was Mike Gow, of The Berkeley Clinic in Glasgow.

Connect managing director Alan Ramsay said: “This was our seventh show and it was clear from the visitor numbers that we have become the must-attend dental event in Scotland. So much so that about a third of the exhibitors have already reserved their places for the 2019 show. ”

He added: “Events such as our dental show and awards take a significant amount of organisation and it’s again testament to the Connect team that we make this happen every year and my thanks goes to them.”

Attendees who attend specific talks can claim up to 11 hours CPD, which has been validated by NHS Education for Scotland. CPD certificates are available from 2 May.

The Scottish Dental Show 2019 takes place at Braehead Arena on 26 and 27 April.
